Where are the silent majority?

Am interesting short blog that was posted in SiGNeL, cuts to the chase, albeit, I wished more was said…

Where Are All The Silent Majority?
by Heng-Cheong Leong

I know of people who do not approve of homosexuals. I know of people who think that homosexuals are not born with, but learnt. I know of people who will be very upset if their children turns out to be homosexuals.

But I do not know of anyone who wants to jail homosexuals for whatever behavior they do behind closed doors and windows.

Where is this “silent majority” conversative Singaporeans that want homosexuals to go to jail? Where is this “conservative” element in our society that want to take such non-conservative extreme actions?

I agree mostly with the author’s post. Does the Singapore government mean to say that the general population in Singapore feel that homosexuals should be jailed for what we do in private? Are we a nation of such homophobes that we want laws that jail homosexuals?

Sure there are religious zealots who would like to see homosexuals burn in hell or stoned to death, but do the parents, friends, employers, colleagues, aunts, brothers and sisters of gay people feel that they should be jailed for what they do in their private lives?
