Not much additional work for Week 3 except cleaning the floor and fixing the aircon.

Now something that I’ve learn about windows and aircon. For my upgrading program, I chose casement windows (that is, those that opens up), instead of sliding windows. When the compressor of the aircon came, it could not fit through the windows to the steel support on the outside! If I had a sliding window, this would not be a problem.

So if you are upgrading your windows think about whether your aircon compressor can fit through it, whether its for a new installation or for repairs or a replacement.

What makes it more difficult is that the new casement windows are so secure that even if you take out all the screw securing the window, it will never fall out. This is a case of HDB ensuring that nobody can blame them of windows falling off. (okay, Tim complained that I did not give him credit for this….its really Tim who called the MUP contractors) I had to call the MUP contractors to come and remove one of the window panes for me, in order to install the aircon.

Anyway, took this picture from the ledge of my flat, Holland Village on the right hand side of the HDB flat. You can see the roof of the shop houses.
